On the farm
The Boys
Our herd of eight alpacas are the most popular residents at North Bosent Farm. Each one has a unique personality and, over the years, they've reminded us so much of some of our friends that we decided to name them after them! Meet Ben (our handsome brown alpaca), along with Pete, Scott, Ivan, Chrissy, Callum, Matt and Tim, who are all beautiful shades of white and light fawn.
Alpacas are naturally curious and inquisitive animals, so don't be surprised if they wander over to investigate—especially if they think you might have a tasty treat! Some of our boys are happy to eat from your hand, while others prefer to enjoy their food from a bowl. Although alpacas generally aren't keen on being cuddled, many of them will happily accept a gentle neck rub, particularly if snacks are involved!
Once fitted with a harness and lead, our alpacas will happily stroll alongside you. They can be a little shy at first and don't enjoy loud or sudden noises, but once they're relaxed and into their walking rhythm, spending time with them is an incredibly peaceful and therapeutic experience.
Our Alpaca Experience lasts approximately 90 minutes and offers plenty of opportunities to get to know these wonderful animals.
Your visit begins with a short introduction, where we'll explain a little about alpacas and show you how to interact with and handle them safely. You'll then spend time meeting the herd, allowing both you and your chosen alpaca to become familiar with one another. During this session, you'll have lots of opportunities to feed them, take photographs and, if they're happy, give them a gentle neck stroke while building their trust.
Once everyone is feeling comfortable, you'll head off on a leisurely walk around our dedicated farm trail, which winds through natural hedgerows and sheltered woodland. Of course, this depends on whether your alpaca feels like walking that day!
Our boys aren't performing animals, and they each have minds of their own. Occasionally, one may decide they'd rather sit down than continue the walk—and that's all part of their charm! We always put the welfare of our animals first, making every visit a genuine, relaxed and authentic experience.
Whether they're strutting proudly down the path or stubbornly refusing to move, our gentle alpacas are guaranteed to leave you with unforgettable memories and plenty of smiles.
Dog Walking
Our secure dog walking field is available to book for exclusive use, giving you and your dog plenty of space to relax, play, and exercise without interruptions. Each booking provides 50 minutes of private access for just £10. Please note that the perimeter fencing is 1.35 metres high, so if your dog is able to jump or clear this height, the field may not be suitable.
Farm activities
There's plenty of fun for everyone to enjoy during your visit to our farm! Come and meet our four friendly pygmy goats, who love attention and are always happy to be petted alongside their gentle sheep friend, Betty. Animal lovers will enjoy getting up close with these lovable characters before climbing aboard our barrel train for a fun-filled ride around the farm. It's the perfect way to create special memories while enjoying the fresh countryside and friendly farm atmosphere.
Farm Shop
Sustainability and locally produced food are at the heart of everything we do. Our on-site farm shop is stocked with a range of produce grown and made right here on the farm, including our own cider and freshly pressed apple juice, free-range eggs laid by our hens, and seasonal vegetables grown in our polytunnels.
Many of our products can also be ordered through our online shop for convenient collection from the farm.
We're committed to making the most of our natural resources, which is why we also offer seasoned firewood and kindling produced from trees grown on the farm that have been brought down during storms—giving them a new purpose while reducing waste.
Cider
At North Bosent Farm, we're proud to have two acres of traditional orchards, where we grow the apples used to create our small-batch artisan cider. Over the years, we've carefully refined our recipes to produce a cider that's full of character and made with care.
From harvesting the apples to pressing, fermenting, bottling, and labelling, every stage of the process takes place here on the farm. Because we bottle our cider ourselves, we're also able to offer personalised labels, making our cider the perfect gift.
