Alpaca Experience Terms & Conditons

When you arrive at North Bosent Farm, please drive through the gate if it is open and park in the farmyard. We look forward to welcoming you and will meet you at the time of your booking. If the gate is closed, please use the intercom call button and a member of the team will let you in.

For the best experience, we recommend a maximum of two people per alpaca, although one alpaca per adult is ideal to get the most from your visit.

The minimum age to be the sole handler of an alpaca is 14 years.

Children under 14 are welcome to accompany an adult, provided they remain calm, quiet, and respectful around the alpacas and follow all guidance given by our team. We kindly ask that all visitors follow staff instructions at all times and treat the animals, facilities, and other guests with care and respect. This helps ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Supervision

All visits are led by experienced person/s from North Bosent Farm. Customers are not permitted to walk the alpacas without being accompanied, nor are they allowed to leave the group with their alpaca.

Safety Briefing

A safety briefing and explanation of alpaca handling will be provided at the start of each experience. Failure to adhere to the safety guidelines during the briefing may result in removal from the experience, without compensation.

Hours of visits

Visits are only available on the times showing available to book on the website. These do not take place every day for the welfare of the alpacas. If there is no suitably available booking day, please call us with your required date and time and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Group Size

Each experience is limited to a maximum of 6 alpacas. Please note that you may be walking with other customers. Private visits can be arranged for an additional fee.

Alpaca Pairing

Alpacas are social animals and must walk in pairs. Therefore, all bookings must include at least 2 alpacas. If you are unable to pair up, please contact us to see if we can match you with another group.

Additional Charges & Accompanying Person

There is an additional charge of £10 for each extra participant. Each alpaca trekker is allowed a maximum of 1 additional person to accompany them on the walk. This does not include walking your own alpaca or taking turns/swapping with the full-paying participant. Only the full-paying participant will be responsible for walking the alpaca throughout the experience.

Children

All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children aged 4-14 can help walk an alpaca with a paying adult, but must remain with the adult at all times. Children aged 0-3 are not advised to accompany on the trek due to terrain and duration. No pushchairs are allowed, but babies in slings may come with an accompanying paying adult who is not walking an alpaca.

Handwashing

Handwashing facilities are provided. Adults accompanying children are responsible for ensuring that handwashing is carried out before and after the walk, as well as after any direct contact with the alpacas.

Dress Code

Customers must wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required (sandals are not suitable). Loose-fitting clothing that may flap in the wind should be avoided. As walks will continue in all reasonable weather, please bring waterproof clothing if necessary.

Cancellations

• Cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance: You can reschedule once, subject to availability.

• Cancellations within 48 hours: We will attempt to resell the experience, but if we cannot fill the places, no refund or rescheduling will be provided.

• Cancellations must be made in writing to info@northbosentfarm.co.uk.

Farm Conditions

Please note that the experiences take place on a farm, and the terrain may be muddy. We are not responsible for any damage to clothing or shoes caused by the conditions.

Pregnancy Disclaimer

Due to rough terrain and the risk of being accidentally kicked, we do not recommend alpaca trekking for pregnant women. If you are pregnant and wish to participate, you will be required to sign a disclaimer.

Weather-Dependent

Walks are subject to weather conditions. If we deem the weather is unsuitable for walking, we will cancel the walk and offer you an alternative date or a refund if a suitable date can't be found.

Communication

We will collect your email address and mobile number at the time of booking. If your walk is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, we will contact you via both of these methods. Please ensure you check your messages; we are not responsible for missed notifications.

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment for each trekking route has been completed and is available upon request.

Time Constraints

While we aim to stick to the scheduled walk time, alpacas walk at their own pace. If you have a strict time limitation, please inform us at the beginning of your walk.

Photography

During the walk, we may take photographs that could be shared on our website or social media channels. If you prefer not to have your photo taken, please let us know
